I Remember Papa

Sammy Squirrelmunk has a special relationship with his Papa. After Papa dies Sammy's afraid he won't remember him anymore. Sammy's family and friends help him discover that he will always be able to remember Papa by continuing to do the things that brought them joy. While this book deals with grief it will also help a child stay close to a grandparent in spirit. The whimsical illustrations help tell the wonderful story of the Squirrelmunk family and the close bond they have with each other and their community.

First-time author Karen Dare wrote I Remember Papa when she had trouble finding a picture book to read to her young grandchildren after her husband (their Papa) passed away. Karen adores her five grandchildren and is fortunate that they all live nearby. She has lived in Eagan, Minnesota for over thirty-five years and is very active in the community.
