Reusable, paperless, ultra-fine mesh:

  • Fit: One filter fits both Regular Mouth and Wide Mouth Mason jars, and also works with most mugs, cups, and glasses.
  • Material: Durable 304 stainless steel.
  • Filter: Reusable ultra-fine mesh; no paper filter needed.
  • Packaging: Plastic-free packaging.

Brew your perfect cup:

  1. Heat the water: Start with water at 195–205°F (90–96°C). If you bring it to a boil, let it cool slightly before pouring.
  2. Grind and measure: Grind fresh coffee beans. Start with a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:15 to 1:17 by weight. For a 1 pint (16oz) jar, try 28g of coffee and 450g of water, about a 1:16 ratio.
  3. Prep the filter: Set the filter on your jar or mug. Optionally rinse it with hot water to preheat it and rinse away residue.
  4. Add the grounds: Scoop your measured coffee into the filter and gently shake to level the grounds.
  5. Let it bloom: Pour just enough hot water to wet the grounds, then let them bloom for about 30 seconds.
  6. Pour slowly: Add the remaining water in a slow, circular motion, working from the center outward. Allow the water to drain between pours.
  7. Enjoy and rinse: Once the coffee finishes dripping, carefully remove the filter and discard the grounds. Rinse the filter promptly.

Pro tip: Experiment with bean types, grind sizes, brew ratios, and pour speeds to find your favorite cup.

Care and keeping the mesh clear:

Coffee oils, fine grounds, and hard-water minerals can build up in the mesh over time and slow draining. A quick rinse may not remove all the buildup.

  • After each use: Discard the grounds and rinse with warm water, outside first and then inside. Wash both sides with fragrance-free dish soap and a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and air dry.
  • Dishwasher: Dishwasher safe; use the top rack.
  • For stubborn coffee-oil buildup: Soak in a coffee-equipment cleaner suitable for stainless steel, such as Urnex Cafiza, following its package directions. Rinse thoroughly afterward. If you brew daily, weekly deep cleaning is a useful starting point.
  • For hard-water deposits: Soak in equal parts white vinegar and water for 30–60 minutes, gently brush both sides, and rinse well.
  • Protect the mesh: Avoid steel wool and abrasive scrubbers. Use each cleaning method separately, rinsing between methods.
