Pheasant Tail Flashback
The Pheasant Tail Flashback adds a reflective accent to a familiar mayfly-nymph profile, offering a touch of flash without abandoning an insect-like presentation. This size 12 nymph gives you an option for trout feeding below the surface, whether you are working a riffle, a steady run, or a softer current seam. Let it travel on a controlled dead drift, adjusting your rig's depth and weight to carry the fly through the feeding lane while the flashback catches available light.
Pattern Details
- Style: Pheasant Tail nymph / mayfly-nymph imitation
- Signature Detail: Reflective flashback that adds a glint of contrast to the nymph profile
- Best Water: Trout rivers and streams, especially riffles, runs, pool entrances, and current seams
- Techniques: Indicator or tight-line dead drifts, fished alone or in a two-fly nymph rig; adjust rig depth and weight to suit the current

Keep the Pheasant Tail Flashback in your nymph box when you want a mayfly-style presentation with a little added flash.
