A hardy cool season perennial turns a food plot into a fixture on the property.

Comes Back for Years: With enough moisture this stand can last three to five years. One planting, then several seasons of hunting over established food.

Protein and Minerals: Leafy forage runs 15 to 30 percent protein depending on soil quality and carries many key minerals. That supports body condition and antler growth in the months it counts.

Crowds Out the Weeds: Chicory establishes fast and takes the space weeds want. You spend less of the summer fighting a plot you already planted.

Takes Drought and Poor pH: It adapts to a wide range of soil conditions and tolerates a pH range of 5.5 to 7.0. Dry stretches that thin other plots leave this one standing.

Plant Shallow, Plant Sunny: Seed goes an eighth of an inch deep or less in full sun. Broadcast it in spring, or in August and September up north and September and October down south.

Put it in once and let the property do the rest.
