Custom Team Gear Deadlines: Headgear and Singlets in Team Colors

The team that walks out matched has already won the first exchange.
Custom gear is not a purchase. It is a production schedule, and the schedule does not care when your first dual is.
Work Backward From December
Most seasons open with duals in the first week of December. Now run the math in reverse:
- First dual: December 3.
- Gear in the room, sized and issued: November 19. Give yourself two weeks to fix a wrong size or a missing wrestler.
- Shipping: one week of transit, so production must finish by November 12.
- Production: custom and sublimated work commonly runs 4 to 6 weeks once artwork is approved. That puts production start at October 1.
- Artwork and proof approval: one to two weeks of back and forth. Your order needs to be placed by mid September to be comfortable, and late October is the real cutoff for December delivery.
Reading this in late October? You are at the edge of the window. Reading it in November? Order stock colors now and schedule custom for next season, because production queues do not reorder themselves for late coaches.
What a Coach Needs Ready Before Ordering
Most custom orders lose two weeks to missing information, not production. Have these locked before you start:
- Exact team colors. Not "our blue." The specific shade, matched against the vendor's available color list. If your mat and warmups are already dialed, match to those. Our guide to logo placement and colors covers how programs keep identity consistent across mat and uniform.
- Logo files in vector format. A screenshot from the school website will stall your proof. Get the .ai, .eps, or .svg from whoever made the logo.
- Roster sizes, counted twice. Size every wrestler, then add coverage: at least one extra singlet per weight range. A December transfer should not wrestle in last year's colors.
- Purchase order approval. School purchasing adds days or weeks. Start the requisition the same day you request the quote.
Headgear: The Fast Lane for Team Color
Headgear is the quickest way to get a matched team, because color built stock ships far faster than sublimated apparel. The custom wrestling headgear collection covers the options:
- The GCA custom headgear builder lets you pick cup and strap colors across fifteen options, tournament legal at high school and collegiate levels.
- The Cliff Keen CE58 custom E58 puts the most proven shell in the sport in two tone program colors with no custom order minimum.
Order headgear with the singlet order anyway. Matched gear that arrives in two shipments still needs both shipments before picture day.
Singlets: Where the Deadline Bites
Sublimated custom singlets carry the longest production time because every panel is printed to order. If your timeline is already tight, solid color program singlets close the gap without the custom queue:
- The GCA premium solid color singlet runs youth through adult in clean program tones.
- The Cliff Keen Relentless solid singlet gives NFHS and college legal fit in stock colors.
- Programs running freestyle in the spring should look at the men's reversible red and blue singlet and the women's reversible singlet, which handle both corner assignments in one uniform.

Why Late Orders Miss the Season
Every program in the country orders in October and November. Production queues stack, shipping slows into the holidays, and a one week artwork delay becomes a three week delivery delay. The team that ordered in September wrestles its first dual in its own colors. The team that ordered in November borrows last year's singlets and explains why.
The deadline already exists. The only decision is which side of it your program is on.
