What a character cleat really is
A licensed cleat is a standard Phenom Elite performance platform with officially licensed artwork on the upper. The graphics are the reason a nine year old asks for them. The plate underneath is the reason they hold up in week seven.
Phenom Elite runs these collaborations with Nickelodeon, Warner Bros., DC Comics, Hanna-Barbera, SEGA, and Kraft. The license is printed in the product details, not implied. That matters if you have ever bought a knockoff off a marketplace listing and watched the print peel after two practices.
Every character cleat sits on one of five platforms. Pick the platform first. Pick the character second.
The five platforms, and who each one fits
Quantum Speed. Lightweight synthetic upper, hybrid heel padding fused to an inner neoprene liner, and a transparent traction plate with a quantum web pattern. Roughly 8 oz per cleat. This is the original speed platform and it carries most of the Kool-Aid and classic DC colorways.
Quantum Speed 2.0. The updated version. Microfiber upper, extra heel padding, and the patented SprintSense TPU molded traction plate. Phenom Elite lists it at 8.6 oz in a size 9. This is where the SpongeBob cleat and the Ninja Turtles Raphael cleat live.
Velocity 2.0. Lightweight synthetic shell with an integrated neoprene insert and a breakaway traction plate. About 8 oz per cleat. The officially licensed Joker cleat runs on this one.
Velocity 3.0. Flexible neoprene construction, foam cushioning, and a lightweight traction plate. Around 8 oz per cleat. The Scooby-Doo youth cleat uses it, and the softer build is a reasonable pick for a first pair.
Quantum Energy. The all purpose model. Single layer monomesh upper with low opacity TPU film layers and an ultralight carbon fiber traction insert. Phenom Elite lists it for football, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, and ultimate frisbee. If your athlete plays two sports in one season, this is the platform that follows them.
One more worth knowing about even though it carries no character art. The Quantum Carbon runs a carbon fiber SprintSense+ plate at 9.4 oz and ships with two insoles. That is the platform an older skill player graduates into.
Sizing: the part parents get wrong
This is the single most useful thing on this page. Phenom Elite does not use one size label system across the character line. Three different systems are live right now.
Plain numbers. The SpongeBob and Ninja Turtles Raphael cleats run 1 through 14 with no letter. Sizes 1 through 6.5 are the youth range. Size 7 and up is adult. Nothing on the label tells you that.
Y suffix. The Kool-Aid Mixed Berry cleat and the Batman cleat run 1Y through 6.5Y, then jump to 7 through 14 for adults. Here the split is explicit.
Dual men's and women's. The Kool-Aid Sharkleberry Fin cleat lists every size as a pair, from M 1 / W 2.5 up to M 14 / W 15.5. Read the men's number, not the women's, unless you are sizing a woman's foot.
Read the dropdown on the exact product page. A 5 on one character cleat and a 5Y on another are the same foot, but a 5 on a men's only listing is not.
Youth listings and adult listings are separate products
Some characters exist twice. Scooby-Doo has an adult Mystery Machine cleat sized 7 to 14 and a separate youth cleat sized 1Y to 6.5Y. The Joker has the same split, with an adult Velocity 2.0 and a youth Velocity 2.0.
If your athlete wears a 4Y, the adult listing will never show a size that fits. Check the youth listing before you decide a character is unavailable.
What you actually pay
Character cleats are priced in tiers by size, not one price per model. On the Quantum Speed and Quantum Speed 2.0 character cleats the current tiers run $99.99 for the smallest youth sizes, $109.99 through the middle youth range, and $134.99 at size 7 and up. Velocity models sit lower, around $59.99 to $89.99 depending on the release.
If the artwork is not the point, the same platforms come in plain team colors. The Quantum Speed 2.0 in navy is the same SprintSense plate at $74.99, and the team color Quantum Speed cleats run $49.99. You are paying for the license, not for a different shoe.
Stud type and league rules
Every Phenom Elite cleat listed here uses molded TPU studs on a fixed plate. They are non-detachable. There are no screw-in studs and no metal.
Youth and middle school leagues commonly restrict detachable and metal studs, which is why molded plates are the default at those levels. Rules vary by league and by state association, so confirm with your specific league before game day rather than assuming. The plate type is listed in the product details on every page if an official asks.
Matching gloves and mouthguards
Most character releases come as a set. SpongeBob, Scooby-Doo, Ninja Turtles Raphael, Kool-Aid Mixed Berry, and Kool-Aid Sharkleberry Fin all have matching football gloves in the same artwork, and the Hexa-Flow mouthguard line carries the same characters.
The Flintstones Bedrock Blitz gloves are in stock even while those cleats are not, which is a workable path if your athlete wants the theme and the shoe size is gone.
Availability moves fast
Licensed runs are limited and they do not restock on a schedule. As of this writing the Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles cleats are sold out in every size, the Flintstones Bedrock Blitz cleat is gone, and the adult Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine is out while the youth version still has sizes.

Measure the foot, do not guess from last year's shoe. Confirm whether the listing is youth, adult, or dual sized. Confirm your league allows molded studs. Then buy the character.
